JUNE 07

JUNE 07:
1. Band On The Run - Paul McCartney
Heralding the "dead" Beatle's arrival on Rhapsody!
2. What I Didn't Say - TOCA
Are you ready for the Toca experience?
3. Break - The Cinematics
Overheard at Circuit City, this dark dance-rock song caught my ear.
4. Overkill - Men at Work
It took a while, but Men at Work are finally on Rhapsody.
5. Lazy Eye - Silversun Pickups
Recommended by many many friends, and rightly so.
6. Pressure Suit - Aqualung
Similar to a happier Thom Yorke.
7. Confines Of Gravity - PlayRadioPlay!
Overheard at Best Buy, this light dance-rock song caught my ear.
8. Touch Me [New Stereo Mix] - The Doors
The softer side of the Lizard King.
9. Big Daddy C. - The Rentals
"The Man with Two Brains" was too sexual, so I went with this keeper.
10. Wish Upon A Dog Star - Satellite Party
Even Perry Farrell has joined the dance-rock trend.
11. Tarantula - Smashing Pumpkins
They're back!! (despite some lack luster production)
12. So Sorry To Say - Celldweller
A diamond hiding in the rough Crackdown soundtrack.
13. God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
Great for when you're recovering from a loud punk rawk show.
14. Vanished - TOCA
They give every genre its due without a hint of cynicism.

I think this is what Tim and Eric are getting at...

My good friend showed me this and I had to share it.

TOCA ft. Pigeon John

TOCA is a new band that puts to shame anyone else who has ever claimed to be a "genre buster". TOCA is literally not listed in any genre on Rhapsody (yet) because they are, in effect, every genre. I'm already inspired by the level of synergy with which the many members of this band function; it's clear that they share a love for all styles of music, no matter how far out there they might be. Check out their debut album, and/or just wait for my next playlist in which they should be featured heavily.
